What is Walnut?

Persian walnut (Juglans regia L.) is the second-most important nut crop grown in Iran. it is a nutritionally rich and also popular nut which is largely consumed in all of the world. In addition to dry walnut, green walnuts, kernels, shells, green walnut husks, barks and leaves have been used in many industries such as cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Walnuts contains calories, fat, carbohydrates and protein.

Walnuts are from beech trees and grows and reproduced in many countries. Iran, China, America, France and Japan produce and distribute large amounts of walnuts worldwide but Iranian walnut is well known in all of the world.

 According to botanical scientists, the Iranian walnut was first taken to the Middle East and from there to countries such as Italy, Greece and the United Kingdom and later into the United States. Studies show that walnuts were first planted in Rome and later in Iran a new specimen of this tree was cultivated and spread from Iran to many other countries.

The taste and smell of Iranian walnut in general is superior to all other walnut models and the only walnut that is economically consumed is Iranian walnut.
