Vasha is one of the famous medicinal plants in Iran and is a perennial and very large type of plant with the height of 1-3 meters. It has strong, single, long and cylindrical stems. It belongs to the Umbelliferae family. The most important medicinal and economic value of this plant is the production of substance called ammonia or washa, which flows in its stem and roots and is secreted through the cracks or wounds caused naturally or by humans and then collected.
The most important compounds in this plant are trypanids and limonene, which have reducing effects on cell excitability. Vasha gum is used in the pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic, perfumery and food industries.
